Student Highlights April 2025

WHAT OUR STUDENTS HAVE BEEN UP TO

Our students have been busy already, jumping into practical learning from day one!

First Years started their Aleit journey with registration day, immediately followed by site visits, Diens training, and a wide range of workshops — from creativity and floral design to budgeting. Social highlights included a welcoming cocktail evening at the beautiful Zeitz MOCAA Ocular Lounge and Event Space, and a karaoke night at HQ with our second years.

The selection of our Lead Coordinators for the 2025 first-year events has been an exciting journey! After eight talented teams presented their professional concepts and client presentations, we’re excited to announce the selected Lead Coordinators and their teams:

– Paarl Girls’ High Matric Farewell 2025: Alexa Schutte, Lila Tanzer, Reabetswe Litabe, Jana Roets, Keziah Lauren Horne

– Parel Vallei High School Matric Farewell 2025: Whitly Juries, Ane Oliver, Isabelle Berriman, Liesl Steenkamp, Nicole Jones

– La Rochelle Girls’ High Matric Farewell 2025: Grace Burgess, Melissa Elliot, Hannah Hunt, Mieke Colyn, Caitlin Swartz

– Samaritan’s Feet Barefoot Cocktail Event 2025: Kayah Stuurman, Chloe Pieterse, Lorin Kozinsky, Jana van den Heever, Hanri Botha

Congratulations to these students for stepping into leadership roles! We can’t wait to see them bring their visions to life and take their events to the next level. Stay tuned for updates on their exciting journey!

Second Years completed their internal job shadowing early in the term and have since been fully immersed in planning fundraising events for this year’s Annual Huisdans. From bake sales to the upcoming Fun Run and our Huisfondsdans, they’ve been actively gaining real-world planning experience.

Third Years recently wrapped up their second-last external internships and are currently back on campus for a final stretch of lectures before heading off to complete their final industry placements. We are excited to see them take their next steps!

Meet the Aleit Academy Student Forum for 2025!

This group of passionate class representatives, led by lecturer Markus Botha Fortuin, plays a vital role in enhancing the student experience. From managing attendance and organising social events to maintaining group morale and promoting engagement, they ensure a strong, supportive community. The 1st Year reps, Melissa Elliott and Grace Burgess, are committed to creating a welcoming environment for their peers. 2nd Year reps, Simran Natha and Minonet Horn, bring creativity and enthusiasm, eager to step out of their comfort zones. Finally, our 3rd Year reps, Gabby Thomas and Fenje Nkoane, are focused on becoming strong voices for their class while continuing to make a positive impact. This group of dynamic students is excited to lead and connect with their fellow classmates throughout the year!
